Journey Through Bhutan

A complete traverse of the kingdom — from the western valleys through the spiritual heartland to the untouched east

Overview

This fifteen-day journey takes you the full length of Bhutan — from the western valleys of Paro and Thimphu, through Punakha and Phobjikha, into the sacred landscape of Bumthang, and on through the high passes into the rarely visited districts of eastern Bhutan. You will see numerous dzongs, ancient monasteries and remote settlements, experiencing the country's extraordinary cultural and geographical range from a single road. The tour is timed to coincide with the Thimphu and Gangtey Tshechus in September. Please note: festivals are included where they fall within your travel dates — if your timing differs, the itinerary will be adapted accordingly while retaining the same depth and character.

Highlights

  • Tiger's Nest Monastery and Paro's dzongs and ancient temples
  • Thimphu Tshechu — one of Bhutan's greatest festivals
