Festival Delights
Ten days of colour, masked dance and sacred celebration — Thimphu Tshechu and Gangtey Tshechu
Overview
Bhutan's festivals are unlike anything else on earth. This journey is built around two of the most captivating — the Thimphu Tshechu, held in the courtyard of the great Trashichho Dzong, and the more intimate Gangtey Tshechu in the serene glacial valley of Phobjikha. Between them, you will explore Thimphu's living cultural heritage, Punakha's fortress-palace, Tiger's Nest, and the remote Haa valley — all against the backdrop of Bhutan's mountains and a country dressed in its finest.
Highlights
- Thimphu Tshechu — masked cham dances in the courtyard of Trashichho Dzong
- Gangtey Tshechu — an intimate festival in a sacred 17th-century monastery
